Time to feed your grass

Hello friends, it's Marvin Salcido here with Salcido Lawn and if you've been listening or watching my videos, you've been hearing us talk about getting your pre-emergents down. Now that we've gotten our pre-emergents down, what do we do? Well, I'm glad you asked because now it's time to feed your grass and you want to make sure and get a good high quality fertilizer and make sure it's evenly spread throughout your yard. We use a 28310 this time of year to help kick the grass off and make sure we get that good spring green up for your yard. So you may ask well how do I know if I'm getting a good high-quality fertilizer? Well in a lot of ways, you get what you pay for, and you want to make sure that the fertilizer that you're buying is of even size because if they're not made in a plant that cares about its quality, you may have some pieces that are larger some that are smaller. So when your spreader throws it out, you may have some pieces that throw farther and some that are and it's not going to give you a good even spread throughout your yard. Make sure and check that before you spread that out and make sure that you know how much you're putting out. So on this 28310 right here, the most important number to pay attention to is that first number and that's number 28. What that means is that for every pound of this product, 28 percent of it is nitrogen and that nitrogen is what's gonna feed your grass and help it to grow, so you need to know exactly how much product you're putting out on your yard. That goes back to when we talked about calibrating your sprayer back when we were doing pre-emergents. Well, you want to make sure you calibrate your spreader and know how much product you're putting out with your spreader. If you have any questions about that or anything please feel free to give me a shout and, as always, y'all have a wonderful day.
